The summers in Kelowna are hot and dry which makes Okanagan Lake and valley come alive with activity. The beaches are full with all types of water sports being enjoyed on the lake. Winters
Our cool winter weather combined with BC's coastal moisture provides ski areas near Kelowna with an abundance of light dry snow, offering up some the best powder skiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing in the world. Summer Adventures

Kelowna's Spring, Summer and Fall outdoor activities include one of the longest golfing seasons in Canada on world class golf courses throughout the valley. The wineries and vineyards open up their restaurants & patios. Visitors from all over the world come to share our gorgeous views and world class wines.

Runners and hikers can enjoy lake view boardwalks, Mission Greenway or the new Rail Trail that follows the lakes from Kelowna to Vernon. Explore mountain vistas from the historic KVR or Knox Mountain and the Westside. The lake and beaches come alive with all types of boaters in the spring.

The summertime lake is known for its warm waters for all your  water sports activities. Cyclists also love the Okanagan summer months with great mountain biking, organized group  rides or just a easy cruise around downtown to visit all the shops and restaurants.

Winter Adventures

Cold winters combined with the coastal moisture provides the Selkirk mountain range with an abundance of light dry snow, offering up some the best powder skiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing in the world. There is the fabulous local ski area Big White Ski Resort about a forty minute drive from Kelowna, while just an hour's drive south is Penticton's Apex Mountain and about the same distance north brings you to Vernon's Silver Star Mountain.

Backcountry skiing/snowboarding, snowshoeing and snowmobiling are easily accessible and offer some of the best snow conditions the province of British Columbia has to offer.

In the city, Kelowna offers a number of excellent indoor winter facilities to help keep you fit and busy. There are plenty of hockey rinks, indoor swimming pools, as well as the H2O pool in the Mission with its awesome slides and wave pool. Located nearby in the Capital News Centre is an indoor soccer field with artificial turf and two ice rinks available for house leagues. The Centre has a large indoor training facility where you will find local Junior, WHA and NHL hockey players training during the off season.
