Silver Star is located just outside the city of Vernon, about an hour and twenty minute drive from Kelowna. Silver Star's Western themed village has great accommodations, restaurants, bars and offers up that fabulous champagne powder we have come to love and enjoy.
The hill was opened in 1958 with a rope tow and a day lodge. The next year a poma lift was installed replacing one of the rope tows. In 1964 came the first T-bar and by 1968 the first chairlift was installed. Now this “mining town” themed village has 12 lifts and over 3000 acres of skiable terrain with an annual snowfall of 700 cm or 23ft.
The original side of the mountain is called the Vance Creek area and is beginner to intermediate terrain with mostly well groomed cruising runs.

The Putnam Creek area is on the backside and is a lot steeper with nicely groomed intermediate runs to aggressive steep shoots with deep powder and some big old bumps. The Putnam side is serviced by a quad chair with a mid station to access all the best runs.
Silver Star has all the amenities of a big resort with the small resort atmosphere. Great skiing/snowboarding, a terrain park, outdoor ice skating, tube park, snowmobile tours and over a 100 kms of lighted nordic cross country ski trails. With its hotels, restaurants, saloons and local artisans and retailers, Silver star will show you what a great family getaway the Okanagan has to share.
In the summer months they operate lift accessible downhill mountain biking with fast versatile single track, fire roads and cross country trails all over the front and back side of the mountain.
