From Kelowna you will find a host of different motorcycle road rides to choose from.
Hwy 97 North is the main highway that passes through Kelowna and is the main highway through the Okanagan connecting all the major cities together. It is wide open highway cruising that follows Okanagan Lake to the south through West Kelowna, Peachland, Summerland and on to Penticton which sits at the south end of the lake.
A great ride for a day trip is from Kelowna to Penticton and then south towards Osoyoos and the American/Canadian border. From Osoyoos head west along Hwy 3 (the Crowsnest Pass) through rolling hills and past scenic river valleys to Rock Creek. At Rock Creek double back along Hwy 33, which will take you up the through the mountain passes towards McCulloch Lake and past the Big White ski hill turn off and back down into Kelowna. Allow yourself at least 5 hours round trip for stops and taking in the scenery.
To the north of Kelowna on Hwy 97 you will cruise through Lake Country (Winfield) and pass by Duck Lake, Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake ( the lake of many colours which turns an emerald green in the depths of summer) on your way towards Vernon. From Vernon you can keep heading west through Armstrong and Enderby and over to the Shuswap Lakes which is about a 2 hour ride or a 4 hour round trip not including stops. From Vernon you can head north to Kamloops which is also a 2 hour ride from Kelowna and a 4 hour return trip, stops not included.
A popular ride from Kelowna is along Westside Road north towards Vernon and looping back along Hwy 97. Westside road is a tight twisty single lane road that you have to use extreme caution as there have been a few fatalities over the years. But for a road rider this can be one of the most exhilarating road rides the Okanagan has to offer.
