Snowshoeing in Kelowna
The beauty of snowshoeing is the mix of tranquility and exercise you can achieve in any outdoor environment that has a little or a lot of snow. When the lower Okanagan valley has fresh snow pack there are so many areas that are easy to access like golf courses, municipal and provincial parks, Mission Greenway, Knox Mt, Pauls Tomb, Okanagan Mt Park, Rose Valley Park and many more. In the mountains surrounding Kelowna, the snow is dry and there are a host of terrific areas to snowshoe.
Kettle Valley Railway, with its magnificent views, impressive trestles and flat grade makes this area perfect for a really enjoyable day with family and friends. You can access it by Myra forestry service road or June Springs road. The third access is from Chute Lake road.
Kelowna Nordic, is located off Hwy 33 on McCulloch FSR and shares the same area as the Cross Country skiers. With a separate snowshoeing track set from the Classic and Skating courses you can head out for hours on groomed trails or bust through the woods making your own routes. They have a day lodge and a couple warming huts along their routes.
